Who We Are

The Louisville Metropolitan Public Safety Museum started with an idea and a gift. For many years, retired Louisville Police Captain Morton Childress collected memorabilia honoring the Louisville Police Department. Before his death in 2017, he gave his entire collection to the newly formed Louisville Metropolitan Public Safety Museum, and his priceless effort forms the core of the museum collection. Since that time, the museum has been gifted a number of items honoring police and other law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services and emergency management (formerly civil defense).
